Chapter History
Due to the growth of Desoto County and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, several discussions, life’s situations, and a couple of years later, the need arose that a Zeta chapter should be chartered in northern Mississippi. After several failed attempted meetings due to inclement weather and various circumstances, finally on February 11, 2010, a meeting was organized with eight ladies, seven who dared to embark on being unique. Within two more meetings nine more ladies joined the ranks. On March 4, 2010, after receiving the call from Regional Director Constance Hendricks, Psi Beta Zeta Chapter was born with the “Sweet Sixteen” charter members. Planning was underway for the chartering ceremony and public program scheduled for April 3, 2010.This grand event was celebrated at the Goodman Oaks Church of Christ.
History was being made once again, upon realizing Zeta Phi Beta Sorority is the first of the “Divine Nine” African American Greek-Letter Organizations to be chartered in Desoto County, Mississippi. In 2015, we became charter members of the DeSoto County Charter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council. |

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated (the “Sorority”) has designed a process for the selection, intake, and education of women who aspire to membership in the Sorority. The goal of the process is to inform new members of the history, policies and procedures important to membership in the Sorority. Potential members of the Sorority have the right to participate in the process in environments that are not intentionally harmful.
Individuals who engage in hazing activities risk sanctions by the Sorority and criminal sanctions. Hazing in any form or fashion is contrary to the philosophy and objectives of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and as such, the Sorority emphatically prohibits and denounces hazing. |
